Student Council
“Our mission is to make sure every student has a voice in our school. We want everyone to feel listened to, respected, and able to share their ideas. By working together, we can make our school an even better place where everyone feels happy, included, and able to succeed. Your thoughts and suggestions help shape real changes that improve life for our whole school community.”
The student council is run by our Year 11 class lead/Engagement specialist. Every term a new representative is voted for by their peers for each class, and they are then responsible for collecting suggestions which they then share with me at our half termly meetings.
The student council has proven to be a success within our school and the pupils appreciate that they have a platform to make changes and have their voices recognised. We also encourage ‘pupil’s voice’ activities and regularly check in to ensure that the pupils are happy and settled in our setting.
Some of the outcomes from last term’s student council requests were outdoor seating areas, new football goals, new basketball hoops, individual, personalised fidget packs for each pupil, A new cooker, comfier chairs for each pupil in their classrooms and more enrichment options.
Dungeons and Dragons
Dungeons & Dragons is a Table-Top Role Playing Game which can enrich students’ education by transforming learning into an interactive, story-driven experience.
Through collaborative storytelling, students strengthen creative writing skills, practice problem-solving, and apply mathematical concepts such as probability and arithmetic during gameplay. The game also fosters teamwork, communication, and empathy as players take on diverse roles and work together to overcome challenges.
By blending imagination with structured rules, it creates a dynamic environment where critical thinking and social-emotional growth develop naturally alongside academic skills.
